A month and a half later, Catherine gave her
confessor the following account:
...and then came the
feast of St. Vincent. On the eve, Mother Marthe gave
us an instruction on devotion to the Saints, and in
particular the Blessed Virgin. For so long a time I
had desired to see her. I went to sleep thinking that
St. Vincent might obtain this grace for me.
About half past eleven, I heard myself called by my
name. I looked in the direction of the voice and I
drew the curtain. I saw a child of four or five years
old dressed in white who said to me, "Come to
the chapel; the Blessed Virgin is waiting for
you". Immediately the thought came to me:
"But I shall be heard". The child repllied:
"Be calm, it is half past eleven, everyone is
asleep; come, I am waiting for you".
I hurriedly dressed and went to the side of the
child. I followed him whereever he went. The lights
were lit everywhere. When we reached the Chapel, the
door opened as soon as the child touched it with the
tip of his finger. The candles were burning as at
midnight Mass.
However I did not see
the Blessed Virgin. The child led me to the sanctury
and I knelt down there. Towards midnight, the child
said, " Here is the Blessed Virgin!".
I heard a noise like
the rustle of a silk dress... a very beautiful lady
sat down and Father Director's chair. The child
repeated in a strong voice," Here is the Blessed
Virgin". Then I flung myself at her feet on the
steps of the altar, and put my hands on her knees.
I do not know how long I remained there; it seemed
but a moment, but the sweetest of my life.
The holy Virgin told me how I should act towards my
director, and confided several things to me....
What was confided to her she revealed later in an
account written in her own handwriting in l876, some
months before her death.
"The good God, my child, wishes to entrust you
with a mission. It will be the cause of much
suffering to you, but you will overcome this, knowing
that what you do is for the glory of God. You will be
contradicted, but you will have the grace to bear it;
do not fear! You will see certain things; give an
account of them. You will be inspired in your
prayers....
The times are evil; misfortunes will fall upon
France; the throne will be overthrown; the entire
world will be overcome by evils of all kinds...but...
COME TO THE FOOT OF THIS ALTAR; THERE, GRACES WILL BE
POURED ON ALL THOSE WHO ASK FOR THEM WITH CONFIDENCE
AND FERVOR.
THEY WILL BE POURED OUT ON THE GREAT AND THE
HUMBLE...
"I do not know how long a time passed",
Catherine had to say.
The Virgin disappeared like a light that is
extinguished.
THE SECOND APPARITION:
ON NOVEMBER 27TH 1830
"God wishes to
give you a mission..." the Blessed Virgin had
said to Catherine, but the mission was not revealed
to her until November 27th. Let us here the account
she gives of this revelation.
"It was a Saturday before the first Sunday of
Advent, at half past five in the evening. In the
silence, just after the point of meditation had been
read, I seemed to hear a noise at the side of the
tribune. When I looked in that direction, I saw the
Blessed Virgin. She was standing,
dresssed in a white robe of silk, like the dawn, her
feet resting on a
globe, only half of which I could see. In her hands,
held at the level of her breast, she held a smaller
globe, her eyes raised towards heaven...her face was
beautiful, I could not describe it...
Then suddenly, I saw rings on her fingers, covered
with jewels, some large and some small, from which
came beautiful rays...At this moment, when I was
contemplating the Virgin, she lowered her eyes and
looked at me, and an interior voice spoke to me:
"This globe that you see represents the entire
world, particularly France...and each person in
particular".
I cannot explain here what I felt and what I saw, the
beauty and the light of the rays was so magnificent!.
The voice spoke to me again:
"This is a symbol of the graces which I shed on
those who ask me".
At this moment, where I was or was not I do not know,
an oval shape formed around the Blessed Virgin, and
on it were written these words in letters of gold:
"O MARY CONCIEVED WITHOUT SIN, PRAY FOR US WHO
HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE".
Then a voice was heard to say:
"HAVE A MEDAL STRUCK AFTER THIS MODEL. THOSE WHO
WEAR IT WILL RECEIVE GREAT GRACES; ABUNDANT GRACES
WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE CONFIDENCE".
Some of the precious stones gave forth no ray of
light.
"THOSE JEWELS WHICH ARE IN SHADOW REPRESENT THE
GRACES WHICH PEOPLE FORGET TO ASK ME FOR".
Suddenly the oval seemed to turn. I saw the reverse
of the medal:
the letter M surmounted by a cross, and below it, two
hearts, one crowned with a crown of thorns, and the
other pierced by a sword.

I seemed to hear a
voice which said to me:
"THE M.
AND THE TWO HEARTS SAY ENOUGH".
MARY, JESUS...THE SUFFERINGS OF BOTH UNITED FOR
OUR REDEMPTION

We at Immaculate Heart have distributed thousands and
thousands of this medal in every kind of metal. We have
seen hundreds of conversions and healings. It has truly
lived up to its' name. It was called the Miraculous Medal
years later because of all the Miracles.
During Catherines time the engravers were not skilled
enought to engrave the first medal, Catherine was always
upset that this medal was not cast and died feeling like
she had failed Our Lady.
Recently, in l993, the Virgin of the Globe was finally cast. The first one
made in pure gold was sent to his Holiness John Paul II.
It is now being distributed to help support the fifth and
final dogma, Our LadyCo-Redemptrix, Mediatrix, and
Advocate. It is also recognized for its intercession and
conversion abillities. We distribute these as well.
